It was "stuffed" last night, and by all means in every aspect.
The roads were stuffed with congested cars, at least in Makati and Edsa areas, trying to get out of the already congested commercial centers. It's expected when there's a downpour. Might as well just stay at the office, file for overtime or just have dinner nearby. Let all those cars battle it out for road space. Waiting seems more profitable since people would be spared of mood swings and your wallet from gas holdup. Aside from cars, streets were also stuffed with stranded commuters.
Mitch got at my office at around 7:30 with a hungry stomach and with an irritated nature (not only due to traffic, but because of some idiotic fleeting spirit of discourse, who would wish to remain dead because of the effects of her malevolent orchestration). But happiness was at bay when I flashed the secured gift certificate I won at Leslie and Christophe's wedding last weekend. Believe me, all the bullshit matters and irrelevant people can be drained away by a hefty and comforting dinner.
We happily drove to greenbelt and already had a few dishes in mind. While walking we saw new dish selections of Italianni's marketed at their entrance door. Now they're serving more affordable rice meals and pasta with meat/chicken meals. Cool. We sat down, ordered Mitch's anticipated large Lasagna and I tried their grilled fish on pesto rice.
*Yummy Lasagna and the 295 grilled fish with pesto rice. Worth it. Thanks Leslie and Christophe!
Btw, I won the certificate by answering the trivia question in the reception. See, being attentive to your girlfriends' kwentos can be advantageous.
While waiting, we had this "stuffed" conversation about a certain spirit that once plagued our happiness. I'm glad to know and feel that we can just easily joke about it, and frankly it really doesn't matter now. Mitch and I are designed to gracefully bounce back, quickly even, but really bounced back from the muddle. The dinner was sort of a celebration of the past, the present and the future.
Our food came and the servings of the 295 grilled fish with pesto rice was appropriate. We mused that Italianni's consistently hits the spot for us. You wouldn't mind paying extra. The service was excellent, the food was great and the conversation was amusingly meaningful.
So at the end we were so stuffed that I had to exert more effort walking towards the parking lot. Mitch's heart and morale were stuffed with good vibes because of his evident progress in his recent shoot. The future is looking brighter indeed. I'm proud of him and we're all proud of ourselves for enjoying the moment.
*Prepare to be Stuffed..happily, out with the bad vibes :)
I got home with happy thoughts, with serenity, with desires to be fulfilled, nursing an overloaded stomach. It was just one of those random days, but it was sure stuffed.
