Other countries' losses are other countries' gains

Do not be surprised if there's a hiring frenzy or various global corporations haggling for some office space in Makati, Alabang, Fort and Ortigas. Ironically, unlike some people who are migrating to the West for greener pastures; wealthy and powerful corporations from the west are seeing the East as their own version of greener pastures. Thanks to the continuous success of outsourcing through cheap and competitive labor, Eastern countries are now the answer to the needs of these corporations to recuperate from global economic crisis.

Big financial institutions such as Citigroup, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Bank (2003) have allocated their operating units in Asia, majority in India, Singapore and the Philippines, as their primary plan to cost cut and be financially smart about the eco situation.
I remember when I was still in Accenture, Deutsche Bank started to establish its operations here in the Philippines. Hiring was massive and processes were fast. It only took various trends and patterns for team leads and associates to be pirated by the new institution promising higher pay, benefits and growth. It was a tough playing situation for other 3rd party outsourcing companies to lose valuable resources to the migrating global corporations. It doesn't help that opportunities in Singapore and Dubai continue to flourish. I remember a rumor one time that some outsourcing companies requested Shell Shared services or Chevron to freeze hire candidates coming from their organizations to prevent massive pullout of resources. Everything from IT, Call Center posts, BPOs, Back office work and operations are slowly being migrated in Asia. I too have experienced and became a player of such. Admittedly it served me and most of my colleagues well for numerous opportunities in global corporations.

I hate to sound like Gary Cole in the play Avenue Q singing "Schadenfreude" (Taking enjoyment of someone else's misfortunes). But whatever fortune we may have now should be maximized and put to sustainable use, because when the time comes the West might think of pulling back or inevitably pulls back, we have now the capability to initiate our own gains.

The V-Shaped Masters

I was a regular swimmer, although not competitively. I did train for two summers and in-between school breaks like weekends. Whenever I went to Southwoods, I would always try to swim its Olympic size swimming pool in laps, but I only went as far as 2 and half...please reread the word "try", and that wasn't even in time constraint. Swimming, aside from you wouldn't feel stressed and would always feel refreshed, is a very hard sport. It could easily be life threatening and cramp inducing at the same time. Aside from having great respect for all athletes, I have a very special respect for athlete swimmers.

Respect in various forms and admiration to constant eye candies to some. But I say, who wouldn't recognize (salivate) at the V-shaped bodies of these swimmers as a result of endless trainings?

Giggling at Zohan

My brother wants to watch Zohan. My sister and I looked at each other and giggled. We felt that Zohan is probably one of the greenest movies Adam Sandler has ever made, which makes its humor ultimately funny.

I watched it with a couple of DT friends and with Mitch after Je's wedding last Saturday night. Watched it, I did and slightly slept on a few, half minute parts of it. But I can tell you, it was not the movie's fault. I know the reason why I was dead tired and drooling on Mitch's sleeve that night. It was because of non stop stress, anxiety in the morning and numbed muscle cramps all afternoon. But I have to say I enjoyed everything. All that stress and muscle cramps were all worth it by the way.

Aside from the socio-political concept (Israel Vs. Palestinians), I find it very amusing that they have magnified the importance of Hummus and the abilities of having a Mediterranean super hero in the character of Zohan. I love the roof hopping and in jeans and cotton flowy shirt. I must have sworn that Zack of Survivor might be doing one of those hacky sack scenes. If you're a fan of Mariah, another reason to be happy.

Lots of cameos, lots of green stuff and numerous butt exposures. Adam Sandler performs well in this element with whatever hair or whatever element of clothing. "Noone giggles at the Zohan." But here you just can't help it.

For the Singapore Bound

My dear friend Tracy Aquino will be having her despidida this Saturday for she is flying to Singapore. Wait, she might be the nth Filipino person who will be migrating there, I'm sure. Professionals, restaurateurs, IT experts have been flocking to Singapore as the new haven of choice. It's nearer to the Philippines. The climate is nice. There are lots of Pinoys. There's a good salary range on top of it. And it's a faster, cheaper and accessible destination that allows you to visit your dentist in the Philippines twice a year or spend the weekend when feeling homesick.

Singapore has evolved all right and it is staged to get the coveted spot on the most globally competitive country next year, which means US will take the back seat. Finance, infrastructure, health and education are prime considerations that ultimately make this happen, but one should not forget GEOMANCY or Feng Shui.

Singapore's Flyer (Big Eye to London), is on the best spot according to Feng Shui experts but apparently its movement is in the wrong direction that might take away the fortune of the city. Singapore has already answered this, thanks to GEOMANCY. It's a Good fact to know for migrants and locals of the new Tiger that everything is still or will remain greener in their chosen pasture.

The easy Logic on Net Life

People who have issues with the amount of self-induced publicity on the net should undergo therapy sessions and net lessons 101.

Internet elevates social connectivity in a broader perspective that it creates another face of life in its own. Friendsters, Multiplies, Facebooks, Myspace and personal blogs or personal sites create another window to be possibly viewed by those who tread the realms of modernity. As long as these sites are done in good faith, conceptualized with truth and nothing but, then it's been made to be seen. It's quite different if a certain site has an ounce of security measures, it's all in the user's preference anyways. But what I see as illogical is that some people whine about being viewed by complete strangers or random people when they have perfectly signed up to enter into a world of limitless viewing. Others are just amusing, some think they're celebrities and ultimately get affected in the end. If it bothers the person that much, then he or she should impose regulatory measures on who gets to view or not, but please blaming the medium and the viewer is ridiculous. There is no reason for hyperventilating. It's ludicrous to know that a person posts an extension of himself out there, makes his life and ideas public, and then one day curses that he's being viewed or much more deduce it to a convoluted psychological analysis. He or she either throws net tantrums or just chooses to disappear.

This "net world" might not be entirely a reality, and it doesn't necessarily make up ones entire life, but it is an extension therefore a part of human life.
It is a part that a person can freely sign up for. But some certain pre-requisites though. This requires maturity, independence, accountability, passion and truth. Some can handle it, some don't, but there's no reason whining and exaggerating about it.

It goes to show that I don't mind if a certain president, a 12 year old or an object of disgust enters my social world or reads my blog. I am perfectly an adult to realize the predicaments of this situation, thank you very much. The last thing I would do is to whine about it, curse this medium and throw exaggerated tantrums on people just because of the infinite connectivity on the net. There's much as responsibility to the viewer and to the author. If you're being viewed do not dwell on too much flattery, irritation or paranoia. Take it as it is. You created a window. There's no use in shattering and covering it up. If you don't want to be viewed, stay out of this medium. Or if you you don't want to be that "popular" to be viewed, then be an ignoramus, hermit or stay out of trouble in the real world. That's pretty much a good and applicable advice, since this "networld" you signed up for is, after all, an extension. It's a two way street and not a one way thing. If a person can't handle this dynamic and mature world, might as well just result to a diary and live in an island. Just spare us the unwanted drama.

AND PS: Those who whine and exaggerate in foamy psycho babble, might not have their lives all that anyways. So Den, don't be paranoid honey. I'll get you that coverletter tomorrow.

Invisibility now a Possibility

How nice it is to become invisible? I'm not referring to an emotional feeling of lack in value and presence in society. I meant the power of actual invisibility. When I was still in my teeny bopper years and Charmed was aired in this country, I played in my mind which powers I'd like to have. Aside from Linka's (Captain Planet) power of Wind, I only liked two other powers: To be invisible or To stop time.

Just imagine. If I were invisible I could get to travel to places without a need for a visa a passport or a plane ticket. I could watch movies without paying for tickets. I could even be used as a tactical spy and hold loads of salient information without getting killed, since I have the power to become invisible in the first place. I could uncover the lying bastards in this world and punish them in a comical sense like maybe...spook them. But granted that my clothes are going to be made invisible as well. I'd hate to have an invisibility glitch and find me being stark naked in public.

The last cinematic attempt to use invisibility is through Harry Potter's invisibility cloak, but the premise is done in Hogwarts, not really a possible setting to begin with. But the brilliant scientists of today has formulated this into a reality.

Scientists are now closer to producing a tool for invisibility with the use of Metamaterials. Naturally, this will be kept in a hush setting until authorities may be able to disseminate it for proper use, which usually starts with a military interest.

Or any other interests like mine, continue to dream on.

Natural Dislike is Natural

I was talking to a friend earlier, as in really early, while we were discussing our posts in multiply. She thinks I might seem to be one of the most "aloof" "cold" people she has ever met, but she wouldn't worry a single day about me because I've always been sensible, has a good sense of morals and magnificently has lack of "emotional garbage." My parents thought that even my younger sister was the "panganay" just because I got on life completely satisfied and independent. Get this, I even learned whatever I needed to learn in terms of puberty care of Mila Javovich of the Return to the Blue Lagoon. I didn't have to burden my parents with awkwardness. You see, I've learned early on about security, independence, confidence, morals and even different avenues of happiness as soon as learned my ABCs. I'm not the type to receive any worries nor lectures. I can't say that for anyone else though.

This friend of mine shared how happy she was I was able to survive the "love bug." To completely care for someone in such an elevated way seemed to be mind boggling for most of my friends. Um, I do have emotions too, right...even a little bit? I think myself capable or everything's just natural that I outdid myself. When it comes to Loathe or Hate it's a different thing. I remember this smart, quiet girl in HS, Tabby Katigbak, who is such a creative writer while excelling in Geometry as well, uttering these words. "I don't hate her, I loathe her." It cracked me up and the memory will stay with me forever. Gosh, Hate is as genuine as happiness. It's a feeling of dislike; and I'm pretty happy, confident and mature enough to recognize it for what it is. (Gosh, don't go on be the practicing guru) I'm a human after all and not a philandering mutant that disposes shit everywhere they go. It's true that I dislike some people, but that doesn't mean I don't carry on with my wonderful life. When some people have chosen to fill up the dislike spots, that doesn't mean I have to do anything about them. They're just there. Period. There is no point in being Mary Poppins about it. It's a genuine feeling, genuine as happiness. We sometimes dislike people out at random and some people have done something worthy of that dislike. I even asked this friend, who should be ordained as a nun if she dislikes people. "Isn't that natural?" she said. I often say it's a boost for creative expansion that even a deduced mortal with shrewd morals could offer one assistance in coming up of something great. Denying that a person could feel genuine dislike or hatred seem pretty offbeat and stupid.

What about care? In their dreams probably. Please, I don't have time and effort. I am capable of disliking some people, but caring about them is such a no-no and a waste. I go on with my life honestly as I could and I cannot believe how people are so affected with what I write. I cannot as much twist the truth. That is much that I care about...the truth. (Khae, these thoughts are shooting straight from the dexterities of what my brain operates on, don't be surprised if I post so much.)

Yes, I might not be the modern day Mary Poppins. I live my life in accordance to my sensible and independent pace. I value my life so much that even a pesky blogroll picture could not shake. "Keber." I dislike some people, naturally, but at least I'm honest about it and I can defend it anytime. Usually those dislikes spring from something malevolent anyways. But those people that I dislike do not even occupy much percentage in my time and brain. Heart is even irrelevant here. So, I just let them be. Read my blogs, the hell I care. "I can easily say that I like you or I dislike you." It doesn't have to be a psycho-babble or a Dr. Phil attempted show 24/7. And borrowing my friends words of wisdom: "You don't have to tell her to move on. You never do. You just find people forced to clear her way for the ramp. Evil? No, just honestly practical." Whatever that means, thanks for the attempt.
